Vertical expansion joint between two cast concrete walls.

 
 

Problem:

The expansion joint material used to seal the long vertical joint had become a perennial problem. The caulking material used could not withstand the constant movement.

Belzona® 3111 (Flexible Membrane)

Application Method:

Application was carried out using a modified version of Belzona Know-How System Leaflet WPA-1 and WPA-9.

This application has been in service since 1987 (21 YEARS) without the need for any additional maintenance.

  1. General view of 140-ft wall and problem joint.
  2. The spalled edges of the concrete were rebuilt with Belzona® 4111 before applying the Belzona® 3111 (Flexible Membrane System).
  3. Complete application - The final coat was tinted for a closer match to the concrete.
