Reseating New Rudder Bush With Belzona

Application Situation:

Installation of new pintle bearing bush in worn pintle bearing housing.

 
 

Problem:

Corrosion damages and wear led to increased annular space between the bush and its housing and irregular form of the bush housing.

 
 

Products:

Belzona® 1221 (Super E-Metal)

Belzona® 1321 (Ceramic S-Metal)

 

Substrate:

Cast Iron housing and Bronze bush

 
 

Application Method:

Application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflet SOS-9.

 
 

Belzona Facts:

Belzona saved time and money against an expensive machining of the housing and supply of larger bush. No alternative was fast enough to compete. This standard repair procedure eliminates galvanic corrosion and provides long term location of the bush.

 
 

Photographs Description

  1. The housing prepared by blasting and ready for bush assembly.
  2. The new bearing bush prepared with thread profile and longitudinal channels to accommodate plastic pipes for injection and to serve as locking keys to prevent bush rotation.
  3. Sealing the bottom of the new bush with Belzona® 1221.
  4. Completed application. Belzona® 1321 completely filled annular space. Pintle with metal shims were used for bush alignment.
