Belzona® Saves Recycling Drum For Second Time

Application Situation:

Recycling Drum (30ft long and 10ft diameter) used to recycle newsprint. Drum is operated 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at 120°F and pH 10-11.



Bi-metallic corrosion on approximately 70% of the un-protected welds found in 1997. Belzona system applied and inspection of the application after 12 years proves that Belzona provided the right solution for the problem. Belzona was selected to be re-applied to further protect the drum.



Belzona 1311 (Ceramic R-Metal)

Belzona 1321 (Ceramic S-Metal)



Carbon steel and incompatible weld.


Application Method:

The application was carried out in accordance with a modified version of Belzona Know-How Leaflet TCC-5.


Belzona Facts:

The original Belzona application has provided 12 years protection in this corrosive and abrasive environment and saved literally millions of dollars in replacement cost and downtime. The customer can rest assured that this drum will be protected for a long time with this second application of Belzona.
