Belzona® Low Cost Maintenance Of Press Pads

Application Situation:

Rubber pad press used to form components from sheet metal. The rubber bolster exerts approximately 15000psi to the metal sheets to form them over the pattern die.



Wear and cutting of the rubber bolster during the forming process leading to loss of accuracy in the formed components.



Belzona® 2131 (D & A Fluid Elastomer)





Application Method:

Instead of replacing complete bolster a 1-inch (25 mm) thick rubber pad is bonded to the surface in accordance with Belzona System leaflet GSS-2.


Belzona Facts:

Typically the Belzona repair costs 1/5th that of a new bolster and can be carried out by in-house maintenance staff. This company typically were replacing bolsters 3 to 4 times each year per machine and the Belzona repairs are estimated to save them almost £30,000 per annum.
