Belzona® Protects Large Collection Tank

Application Situation:

Underground collection tank for waste surface water

 
 

Problem:

Breakdown of the original coating had allowed corrosion pitting to occur. some leaks were occurring on the walls, particularly where wall meets the concrete tank floor.

Application Method:

Application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflets TCC-1, TCC-5 & TCC-9. After surface preparation, Belzona® 1111 was used to bond reinforcement steel sheets to areas affected by pitting corrosion. Belzona® 4111 was used to repair damaged areas on the concrete tank base. The entire collection tank was coated with Belzona® 5811 applying two coats by airless spray. Lastly, an elastomeric fillet was created by applying Belzona® 2211 where steel walls joined onto the concrete base.

 
 

Belzona Facts:

Three years earlier, a test coating had been done with Belzona® 5811. The test coating’s good performance secured the order for the huge tank with a coated area of 1398 m2.
