Belzona® Superwrap Pipe Repair

Application Situation:

A six-inch diameter pipe, carrying produced water, operating at 30-55°C and 1.5-2 Bar pressure.

 
 

Problem:

There were two 10mm holes through wall defects in the pipe caused by local bacterial corrosion. Prior to the application, the defects were sealed with a patch of Belzona® 1211 to provide a temporary leak sealing repair. The client needed the pipe system back in service as soon as possible.

Application Method:

The application was carried out in accordance with the Belzona® SuperWrap Application Working Procedure.

 
 

Belzona Facts:

A Belzona® SuperWrap repair, compliant to ISO/TS 24817 and ASME PCC-2 Article 4.1, was applied to provide reinforced protection to the weak and vulnerable areas of the corroded pipework. Using a Belzona® SuperWrap repair, the client was able to eliminate the need for hot work and this approach also minimized the time the pipe system was out of service. The pipe repair was completed within two hours and was back to full strength following a forty-eight-hour cure period.
