Trials were conducted for potential solutions in 1997 and only the Belzona application proved itself in practice.

Belzona Facts
The full scale application only proceeded once the initial trial had proven successful. A competitor's system had also been tried but wasn't able to be applied successfully. 4 gates each had 2 arcs of Belzona® 1341 applied, totalling about 400m². To date, the application is over 12 years old and, although each gate undergoes annual inspection, there has been no sign of any breakdown in any of these areas.
