Application Situation

Original corrosion protection damaged on platform leg.

Application Method

Application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflets SOS-20a and SOS-20b. The surface was prepared as thoroughly as possible with an MBX Bristle Blaster being used above the water line. The surface preparation and application of Belzona® 1161 had to be carrierd out using rope access and divers.

Belzona Facts

The surface tolerant properties of Belzona® 5831 made it the ideal solution for these difficult access conditions. The product provides excellent adhesion to surfaces both in the splash zone and underwater. Application inspected in 2017 after seven years in service and found to be providing excellent corrosion protection.
