Belzona® Re-Forms Warped Flanges For Decades

Application Situation:

Distorted flanges on heat exchanger.

 
 

Problem:

A liquor regenerating heat exchanger ran dry, with the steam left on. This warped the upper and lower heads and shell flanges so badly that they wouldn’t seat.

Belzona® 9411 (Release Agent)

Application Method:

The application was carried out in accordance with Belzona® Know-How System Leaflet GSS-8.

 
 

Belzona Facts:

The application saved the customer over $150,000, in 1980! The alternative was to perform in place machining of the 15 foot diameter flange faces and mating surfaces. With mating surfaces restored the heat exchanger has operated for decades.
