Scoop Tram With Damaged Pin Bearing Back In Service With Belzona® After One Day

Application Situation:

Scoop tram opeating in salt mine.

 
 

Problem:

The severe corrosive and abrasive service conditions had led to metal loss on the articulated joint bearing pin, resulting in a relatively short life of the component.

Belzona® 1821 (Fluid Metal)

Application Method:

The application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflet MPT-2.

 
 

Belzona Facts:

Dismantling the pin housing for replacement would have been very time consuming and costly as the entire backing plate would have had to be detached. The Belzona forming technique not only allowed for the repairs to be completed in-situ after just one day but also significantly extended the life expectancy of the scoop tram bearing pin.
