Problem: Vibration from the use of a “jackhammer “ by a contractor in the pool basin to expose leaking pipes had caused cracks to develop in the concrete grout forming the edges of this pool’s unique expansion joint system. Dye testing located 12 separate leaks.
Photograph Descriptions
  1. The grout used to form the expansion joint sides, and the crack in it, are visible above the hand weight used to mark leak locations during dye testing
  2. The void beneath the crack is exposed
  3. The joint repaired. Twelve separate leaks were isolated and sealed
Application Situation
Public swimming pool in emergency shutdown due to chronic water leakage.
Application Method
Application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflets FPA-5 & FPA-6. Cracked grout was  removed and joint edges rebuilt with Belzona®  4111, followed by repair with Belzona MP Elastomer  of the expansion joints in affected areas.
