Problem: Many water tank owners will not allow welding of cell antenna mounting brackets because it will damage the interior coating. Some owners will not even allow grinding the outer tank surface. The number of plates per antenna is determined by the engineers to handle the weight of all the equipment to be hung.
Photograph Descriptions
  1. Scrubbing Belzona 1111 onto mounting plate.
  2. Scrubbing Belzona 1111 onto Tank.
  3. Pressing plates onto tank with cross-bar to align correctly.
  4. Magnets under the plate to hold it up during cure, tape to keep plates from slipping sideways.
Application Situation
Antennae mounts on municipal water tanks at the Cell Phone company.
Application Method
Grind 4" x 12" plates, chamfer edges. Grind or MBX bristle blast tank area. Mix and apply Belzona 1111 (or Belzona 1161, depending on the weather) to plates, high in the center. Apply the Belzona product to the tank and press the plate on. Proper alignment is critical. Use the excess Belzona product to build a fillet around the plate edges. We use one or two 90 degree magnets and Gorilla tape to hold the plates in place during cure. Minimum 48 hours before antennae are hung. Most cell phone companies require a Belzona Technical Consultant on site during application to assure Belzona guidelines are followed. The application was carried out in accordance with a modified version of Belzona Know-How System Leaflet TCC-1.
Belzona Facts
Alternative welding or stud welding will damage interior tank coatings. Store bought epoxies shrink while curing causing the cell antenna to fall off the tank.
