Belzona's Shaft Repair Restarts Production

Application Situation:

Shingle manufacturing machine.



Shaft was worn and damaged.

Application Method:

The application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflet MPT-2 for rebuilding damaged shafts using forming techniques. The area was prepared using a disk grinder to roughen the surface and to make a cross-hatching pattern on the surface. A coat of Belzona 9411 was applied to the inside of the formers, and the edges where material will be pushed out. Belzona 1111 was applied to the shaft and covered the entire area using a brush and the mixing spatula to apply the product. Also, the inside of the formers were covered and evenly spread. The formers were clamped to the shaft. Once Belzona 1111 had cured the former was removed and the excess material was snapped off at the parting lines. Some of the material had flowed onto the shoulder of the shaft, but it was so thin that the area was sanded.
