Problem: Since the operating fluid (produced water) is very corrosive, these pipes needed the internal protection in order to increase its working life.

Application Situation
New pipes without an internal coating need protection to be put into operation.
Application Method
The weld seams and irregularities were roughened by grinding. The internal surface of the pipes was prepared by blast cleaning to a near white metal finish, SSPC SP-10 Sa 2½ standard. After the removal of residue and cleaning with a degreaser, Belzona 1121 was applied to smooth the weld seams/irregularities. Then the 1st layer of Belzona 5891 was applied at a thickness of 300-400 microns. After the initial mechanical stability of Belzona 5891, brush-off blast cleaning was carried out and the 2nd layer of Belzona 5891 was applied at a thickness of 300-400 microns. In the straight sections, the coating of Belzona 5891 was applied. Inspection was carried out and the identified misses were retouched.

Belzona was applied to the new pipes to extend the working life. The customer knew about Belzona and was satisfied with the application.
