Belzona® Replaces Ptfe Lining And Cuts Downtime

Application Situation:

Reactor operating between 70°C and 80°C at a Polyolefins petrochemical plant. Process fluids included salt, caustic and titanium tetrachloride.



The original hot applied PTFE Lining required maintenance due to localised disbondment. The plant was facing a long downtime as it was not possible to conduct an in-situ repair of such a lining.  The customer was looking for a solution that was faster and easier to apply.



Belzona 1593





Application Method:

The application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflet TCC-5 for protecting and rebuilding steelwork. After grit blasting to SA 2.5, a two-coat system of Belzona 1593 was hand applied to an area of 25 m².


Belzona Facts:

Belzona was chosen to replace PTFE as it reduced downtime from weeks to days and was also much easier to apply. Any future mechanical damage will be repairable in-situ.
