Oil & Gas (OILG)

Tanks and Chemical Containment Areas (TCC)

Customer Location:

Application Date:

May 2015

Application Situation:

The Flare Stack required a corrosion protection to withstand temperatures of up to 120⁰C (250⁰F). The Flare Stack is approximately 1 m (3.2 ft) in diameter and 100 m (328.1 ft) in height.

Following a successful trial application, the customer decided to use Belzona 1523 as the product can handle high operating temperatures and could be applied in the difficult, on-site location.

Belzona 1523

Application Method:

The application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflet TCC-5. After a high pressure jet-wash, the surface was prepared with spin-blasting and followed by 3 coats of Belzona 1523. The spin spray application of approximately 300 L of product was monitored via screens.

Belzona Facts:

A mock-up test was initially set-up at a location in Singapore, which was used to develop the setting up of the spin-spray equipment in order to determine the travel speed, number of passes and required film thickness, as well as to demonstrate how the application would be conducted during the shutdown.
