Problem: The hot water tank had been built into the mechanical room in a way that it was impossible to remove and replace it without resituating the whole set up of the room. It had sufficient damage on the interior due to corrosion and buildup of minerals and sediment over the years.

Application Situation
Potable hot water tank at a large hotel.
Application Method
The application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflet TCC-5. The substrate was first cleaned of loose debris with a chipping hammer then sandblasted to near white metal SSPC-10. It was tested for chlorides. All pitting and weld seams were filled with Belzona 1111, which accounted for about 90% of the substrate surface. Then it was coated with a dual coat system of Belzona 5891.
Belzona Facts
Being able to rebuild and coat this in place saved the customer a substantial amount of money due to the fact that it was not easily accessible and the mechanical room would have to be reorganized to be able to remove it and replace it.
