Problem: The transformer was temporarily drained and shut down due to leaking oil contaminating the surrounding ground soil, which was a safety and environmental concern.

Application Situation
A 20 year old transformer is part of a substation which helps supply power to local residence.
Application Method
The application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflet TCC-1 for sealing crack, porous welds, bolted and riveted joints on tanks. The surface was prepared using a grinder and wire wheels electric hand tool. Belzona 1161 and Belzona 9341 was applied to the area in accordance with Belzona Instructions For Use.
Belzona Facts
Belzona 1161 is a fully machinable and surface-tolerant product that displaces fluid from the substrate and therefore can be applied and bonds firmly to wet and oily surfaces. Belzona 1161 is easily mixed, does not corrode and has good chemical resistance. One month after application we revisited the transformer. The customer was very happy that there are no more oils leaks from the transformer.
