Problem: Severe corrosion deteriorated the crane roof, causing hole through/thin wall defects and loss of structural integrity.

Application Situation
Crane roof on offshore production platform.
Application Method
The crane roof was grit blasted to SP 10 with a minimum anchor profile of 3 mils. The repair area was cleaned and degreased with Belzona 9111. All through/thin wall defects were repaired with the Belzona Plate Bonding System using Belzona 1121 to adhere plates. Belzona 3921 was installed by brush and allowed to cure. A two layer system of Belzona 3111 was installed, incorporating Belzona 9311 in the first layer.
Belzona Facts
Due to the severe deterioration of the roof, the crane operators were no longer protected from the weather when operating. Replacement of the crane cab was very expensive plus a great deal of downtime. Restoration of the crane roof using the Belzona system was less than US $3,000 for materials and labor with no downtime.
