Application Date: December 2015
Products:

Belzona 5811 (Immersion Grade)

Problem: Other coatings and paint systems have not proven to have suitable longevity in this environment. Belzona has been successfully used by USACE to provide long-term protection from corrosion and from damage to the equipment operating under immersion and variable environmental conditions.
Photograph Descriptions

Application Situation
USACE is developing a new hydroelectric facility and part of the project involves the manufacture of 16 sections of trash rack. Each piece has a surface area of approximately 1100 sq.ft. The Hydroelectric Project is licensed at 36.4 megawatts (MW) of electricity, or enough energy to meet the needs of about 18,000 homes. The newly manufactured trash racks were specified to be protected from corrosion using Belzona 5811.
Application Method
High volume airless plural spray system
Belzona Facts
Previous coatings would be completed off site from the manufacturing site. This meant a delay in overcoating the prepared surface and loss of quality control by the in house staff. Using the Belzona system, the entire process can be completed in house, maintaining the quality. Another consideration and cost saving benefit to the use of the Belzona product is that the pieces can be manufactured in larger sizes and construction techniques since off site transport is avoided. Other coating alternatives cannot accommodate large pieces in their process.
