Problem: Workers rode on the back of moving trucks in adverse conditions which caused slippery footing. Safety was a big concern for these employees and, unfortunately, the factory installed steps were not sufficient. With more trucks to be put in service the solution needed to be replicated.
Photograph Descriptions
  1. Surface preparation on full length stair treads
  2. Non-Slip application completed on stair treads
  3. Close up of an aggressive texture of the application
  4. Steps installed on one of the garbage trucks
Application Situation
Garbage trucks. New vehicles had insufficient place at the back for workers to ride on safely. With more new trucks being put in service a safe solution needed to be found.
Application Method
The application was carried out in accordance with a modified version of Belzona Know-How System Leaflet FPA-8 and Belzona Instructions For Use.
Belzona Facts
Because of the excellent adhesion of Belzona 1321, it was the right material to hold Belzona 9211 in place. The product is also durable enough to withstand the cleaning of the steps in winter when snow and ice accumulated. The application to bulk stair treads allowed for cutting and installing as needed without reapplication. The dependability of this non-slip surface saved the workers from personal injuries as well as the company from loss time and incidents.
