Application Method
Application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflet FBC-1. The damaged areas were rebuilt and reinforced with Belzona 1121 incorporating Belzona 9341. An area of roughly 75mm around the leading edges of each fan blade were coated with Belzona 1341 to provide optimum erosion resistance. Finally the Belzona 5111 system was applied over the blades to provide UV resistance to the underlying fibreglass.
Belzona Facts
These fan blades in their original state typically last between 5-8 years before being worn down by use. Replacing a full set of blades is expensive and wasteful, and does not provide a long-term solution to the problem. Use of Belzona allowed the fan blades to be restored to original profiles and then to be protected with a durable UV resistant finish to provide long term performance in service.
