Belzona® Grip System Keeps Lorries Moving

Petrochemical (PETR)

Floor Problem Areas (FPA)

Customer Location:

Chemical Plant, Cleveland, UK

Application Date:

Application Situation:

Checker Plate Weighbridge.

The client had an old weighbridge that had been constructed on a slope. Lorries were struggling to move off this as their tyres would just spin on the polished metal. They then had a new deck fabricated, but it was found that the problem persisted. Vehicles would have to reverse back towards the production area in order to gain enough momentum to get over the bridge. After a couple of “near misses”, a solution was urgently needed.

Belzona 5811 (Immersion Grade)

Belzona 1321 (Ceramic S-Metal)

Belzona 9211 (Supergrip Aggregate)

Application Method:

Application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflet FPA-8. Belzona 1321 blinded with Belzona 9211 was applied in a chevron pattern with Belzona 5811 applied between to provide corrosion protection.

Belzona Facts:

Due to the constant heavy traffic, Belzona 1321 was chosen to hold the aggregate due to the materials’ very high compressive strength. As the materials were also self-priming, all of the work could be completed within a weekend, allowing the weighbridge to return to service quickly. In addition, the Belzona materials provided outstanding grip together with abrasion and corrosion protection.
