Application Situation:

Flexible rubber transfer pipes on digester

 
 

Problem:

UV attacks the rubber over a period of time causing it to degrade and eventually become brittle.

 
 

Products:

Belzona® 3211 (Lagseal)

Belzona® 3921 (GSC Conditioner)

 

Substrate:

Rubber pipe with stainless steel flanges

 
 

Application Method:

Application carried out in accordance with a modified version of Belzona System Leaflet VPF-12.

 
 

Belzona Facts:

This application has provided protection on similar pipes for more than 10 years. The life of unprotected pipes was 3-5 years.

 
 

Photographs Description

  1. Preparation of flexible hoses in progress. All pipes are tightly wrapped with a polythene film to prevent bleed through of the pitch from the rubber component.
  2. The flanges are ground and coated with Belzona® 3921 GSC Conditioner.
  3. Application of Belzona® 3211 in progress. Belzona® 9311 Reinforcement cloth is incorporated into the 1st coat.
  4. Completed application.
