Application Situation:

Main intake pipework drawing sea water into the power station.



As a relatavely new power plant on the banks of tidal estuary, the CW pumps and ancillary pipe work were showing significant erosion and corrosion after a short period of service. They were pumping large volumes of water from the river, which is very erosive even after it has been screened.

Application Method:

Application was carried out in accordance with Belzona System Leaflets VPF-1 & VPF-2. Particular attention was paid to washing and blasting to remove salts, then badly eroded areas were re-built with Belzona® 1311 and then two coats of Belzona® 1321 applied.


Belzona Facts:

The first bend, which is shown in the photographs, was opened up in March 2007 with a view to being refurbished. However when it was inspected, it was found to be in perfect condition.
