Problem: Traces of cavitation, corrosion damage as well as material loss found on the wetted surfaces of the pump. It was necessary to rebuild and coat the inlet, casing and suction cover with Belzona erosion-corrosion resistant products to restore efficiency.

Application Situation
Pump is used to cool the oxygen jet burners used to re-heat steel alloys in the continuous casting process.

Application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflets CEP-1 & 10
Belzona Facts
After installation the operating parameters of the pump were excellent; the power consumption reduced by 10-12%, from 270-280 amp prior repair to 240-250 amp. The operating pressure increased from the previous 8-8.5 bar to 9-9.5 bar and the flow rate increased from 400 m³ to 450 m³. This means the repaired pumps performance  corresponds to the manufacturer’s original parameters.
