Problem: Erosion/corrosion causes pitting damage on screw conveyor surface accentuated by the high working temperatures (more than 60°C), high pressure injection and corrosive chemical process media.

Application Situation
Silumin worms (screw conveyors) for soap production facility. These are used for extruding soap and referred to as a "plodder".
Application Method
Application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflet SHM-14. Surface preparation was made in accordance with the Colgate-Palmolive procedure in Belzona approvals (Refurbishing and Coating Silumin Worms for Soap Plodders).
Belzona Facts
Two screw conveyors with OD 250 mm and 300 mm were protected with a third to be completed. Inspection review twomonths after application revealed only slight discolouring and loss of gloss. Belzona is routinely specified by this International soap producer for protection of these screws.
