Application Situation:

Amine regeneration tower operating above 250°F in an environment containing hydrogen sulfide and diglycolamine.

 
 

Problem:

Corrosive process fluids and elevated temperatures create an extremely aggressive corrosion rate. If corrosion was not addressed, this vessel would have gone under its minimum wall thickness and forced a shutdown.

 
 

Products:

Belzona® 1511 (Super HT-Metal)

Belzona® 1591 (Ceramic XHT)

 

Substrate:

Carbon Steel

 
 

Application Method:

Belzona® 1511 and Belzona® 1591 were applied in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflet TCC-5.

 
 

Belzona Facts:

Possible repairs included a Belzona solution or clad welding the affected area. The Belzona solution required less than $40,000 of product and labor and was completed in thee days. The clad welding would have required $100,000 of product and labor and more importantly 10 days. Because daily lost production costs were $9,000,000, the Belzona solution saved the refinery over $63,000,000!
