Belzona® Restores Safety Valve Seal

Safety valve in cooling water system

 
 

Problem:

Damaged mating surface in the safety valve was allowing back-flow of water

Belzona® 2131 (D&A Fluid Elastomer)

Application Method:

Application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How Leaflet GSS-1. Two forming rings(inner and outer to the valve diameter) were used to create the diameter profile and top plate used to form actual sealing face.

 
 

Belzona Facts:

New valves were not available so the sealing surfaces were removed and Belzona® 2131 moulded to the original sealing profile. Belzona provided fast return to service. The alternative hot vulcanization required special equipment and extra time.
