Belzona® Repairs Corn Wear

Application Situation:

Vacuum system is used to unload barges of corn for delivery to the processing facility.

 
 

Problem:

Ceramic tiles had fallen out of the vacuum system exposing the Stainless steel substrate. The corn being pulled through system quickly wore a hole through the steel causing loss of vacuum and stoppage of the unloading facility.

Belzona® 1221 (Super E-Metal)

Application Method:

Application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflet SHM-13. A metal plate was bonded to the exterior with Belzona® 1221 prior to rebuilding the lost tile areas with Belzona® 1812.

 
 

Belzona Facts:

With this vacuum system down the corn could not be unloaded from barges and a replacment for this damaged section would have been months away. The Belzona solution offered a quick turn-around allowing barges to once again be unloaded and the plant to continue un-interupted production.
