Problem: Bimetallic corrosion caused wear of bush housing with further damage caused by the increased vibration in the rudder steering system.

Application Situation
Two bronze bearing bushes within the Rudder steering system of cargo ship.
Application Method
Application procedures were carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflet SOS-9. Prefabricated new bronze bushes and side flanges were reseated in their positions and secured by injection with Belzona® 1321.

Conventional repair by welding and machining to suitable sizes would be very expensive and time consuming. This repair involving bonding different metal sustrates with Belzona eliminates galvanic corrosion and is proven to be fast and safe, saving money by reducing docking time.
