| Belzona Keeps The Lights Burning | | | Industry:Power (POWR) | | | Application:Valves, Pipes and Fittings (VPF) | | | Customer Location:Power Station, Western Australia | | | Application Date:July 2009 | | | Application Situation:Bushing of both blue and red phase of 330KV oil filled transformer. This is a major unit responsible for power supply to a major part of the city. | | | Problem:The seal around ceramic bushing had degraded allowing oil to leak out which in turn reduced the operational efficiency of the unit. | | | Products:Belzona® 1161 (Super UW-Metal) | | | Substrate:Ceramic and steel | | | Application Method:Application was carried out in accordance with a modified version of Belzona Know-How System Leaflet VPF-11a. A vacuum was drawn on the unit to reduce/stem any oil leak. An MBX Bristle blaster was used to prepare the surface. Belzona® 1161 was used in conjunction with Belzona® 9341 (Reinforcement Tape) to seal over the leaking joints. | | | Belzona Facts:There was a significant lead time in obtaining replacement bushing and the continuous filling of the existing bushing was both time consuming and expensive. | | | Photographs Description
