Application Situation:

Sea water cooling system pump for a 60 MW turbine.



Efficiency losses and pump breakdown due to severe erosion-corrosion of the single vertical axial flow pump (7090 m³/h). Prior to the Belzona solution the client had to replace or repair the pump components annually. As a significant local electricity supplier, downtime of this critical equipment caused major problems.

Application Method:

The application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflets CEP-5, CEP-3 and CEP-4.


Belzona Facts:

The original bell lining was failing on an annual basis, leading to pitting corrosion and regular replacement. The Belzona repair vastly improved reliability and performance. The pump casing, liner and diffuser were also repaired and coated, internally and externally. Yearly touch up is required of the sacrificial coating in the swept area due to cavitation damage. original Belzona protected bellmouth still in service after nine years.
