Problem: Erosion had worn through nozzle. Welding considered but high risk of distortion and expensive.

Application Situation
Nozzle of drive unit eroded due to cavitation.
Application Method
Application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflets SOS-1 & 2. After grit blasting, Belzona® 1311 was used to replace eroded metal. Belzona® 2141 system was then applied to the nozzle extending the application over both the leading and trailing edges to give maximum protection.
Belzona Facts
Welding was an option but cost would have been $5500 and the distortion would have been a problem. Total cost using Belzona system was less than $3800 with no risk of distortion. In addition unit protected from future erosion corrosion.
