Belzona® Reinforces Tank At Steel Mill

Application Situation:

Corrosion of safety immersion tanks in the coke manufacturing plant



These tanks were damaged around the connection and the walls through the chemical attack of the contained medium (coke gas in water) and local steam. The temperatures ranged from 50°C to 104°C



Belzona® 1111 (Super Metal)





Application Method:

Application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System leaflet TCC-1. A formed section was made up. Belzona® 1111 was then applied to both surfaces and then assembled, using metal strapping to hold in place whilst the Belzona cured. Excess material was used as a fillet around the plate. After completion of cure the straps were removed.


Belzona Facts:

The Belzona repair provided a stress free repair to the corroded areas. In addition to plate bonding a corroded stub pipe was also repaired 9see KHIA Vol xxxxxxxx)
