Problem: These safety immersion tanks were damaged around the connection and the walls through the chemical attack of the contained medium coke gas and water) and local steam. The temperatures ranged from 50°C to 104°C

Application Situation
Corrosion of safety immersion tanks in the coke manufacturing plant
Application Method
Application was carried out in accordance with a modified version of Belzona Know-How Systerm Leaflet TCC-1. A stub pipe welded to a formed plate was fabricated. Belzona® 1111 was applied to both surfaces and then  assembled. Metal strapping was used to hold it in place whilst the Belzona cured.  Excess material was used as a fillet around the plate. After completion of cure the straps were removed.

In addition to the bonding of the stub pipe plate, reinforcement plates were also used in this plant. See KHia (XXXXXXXXX) This Belzona repair allowed effective repairs to be carried out quickly on site with out hot work or risk of distortion.
