Problem: Breakdown of the original coating had allowed corrosion pitting to occur. some leaks were occurring on the walls, particularly where wall meets the concrete tank floor.

Application Situation
Underground collection tank for waste surface water
Application Method
Application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflets TCC-1, TCC-5 & TCC-9. After surface preparation, Belzona® 1111 was used to bond reinforcement steel sheets to areas affected by pitting corrosion. Belzona® 4111 was used to repair damaged areas on the concrete tank base. The entire collection tank was coated with Belzona® 5811 applying two coats by airless spray. Lastly, an elastomeric fillet was created by applying Belzona® 2211 where steel walls joined onto the concrete base.
Belzona Facts
Three years earlier, a test coating had been done with Belzona® 5811. The test coating’s good performance secured the order for the huge tank with a coated area of 1398 m2.
