Belzona® Protects Sugar Beet Mixer Shaft

Application Situation:

Mixing shaft with 46 half shells on which agitating arms were located

 
 

Problem:

Loose particles of soil and small pieces of rock, released during the processing of the sugar beet causes abrasion on the shaft.

Belzona® 1811 (Ceramic Carbide)

Belzona® 1121 (Super XL-Metal)

 

Substrate:

Steel

 
 

Application Method:

Application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflets GSS-9 and SHM-14. Belzona® 1121 was used to create irregular shims under the half shells to ensure perfect fit onto the shaft. The exposed areas of shaft were protected with Belzona® 1811 against future abrasion damage.

 
 

Belzona Facts:

The high quality of the application not only impressed the client, more importantly it also sparked the interest of a further sugar refinery with similar problems.
