Belzona® Repairs A Francis Turbine

Application Situation:

This turbine was in operation since 1976 and showed significant erosion-corrosion.

 
 

Problem:

Based on previous experience and drawbacks of a hot applied solution, welding was not an option.

Belzona® 1311 (Ceramic R-Metal)
Belzona® 1321 (Ceramic S-Metal)

Application Method:

Application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflets CEP-3 & 5. Belzona® 1311 was used to restore profiles before overcoating with Belzona® 1321 to provide protection from further erosion-corrosion.

 
 

Belzona Facts:

The Belzona solution has avoided the replacement of the turbine which would have cost between 30000€ and 50000€. About 50 hours of works were needed to repair this turbine and the repair cost 10000€ to the client.
