Belzona® Coating For A Refinery Knock-Out Drum

Application Situation:

Low pressure flare knock-out drum measuring approximately 12 metres in length and 5 metres in diameter.

 
 

Problem:

The replacement of the drum was a major part of the refinery shut-down and a corrosion resistant lining was required to maximise the vessels useful service life.

Application Method:

Application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflet TCC-5. Belzona® 1391 for stripe coating of all welds and nozzles prior to the application of Belzona® 1521 using airless spray equipment.

 
 

Belzona Facts:

Belzona coatings were chosen for their ability to provide corrosion protection at the elevated temperatures and pressures involved. In particular resistance to rapid decompression was essential.
