Belzona® 1341 Improves Swimming Pool Pump Performance

Water / Wastewater (WATR)

Centrifugal Pumps (CEP)

Customer Location:

Swimming Pool, BC, Canada

Application Date:

August 2006

Application Situation:

Because of the dissimilar metals (Bronze and cast iron) making up the pump components, the facility would only get one year of operation out of a pump.

Erosion corrosion, aggravated by galvanic corrosion and corrosion from pool chemicals had reduced pump performance.

Belzona® 1311 (Ceramic R Metal)

Belzona® 1341 (Supermetalglide)

Cast Iron casing / Bronze impeller

Application Method:

Application was carried out in accordance with a Belzona Know-How System Leaflet CEP-1 & 10.

Belzona Facts:

Apart from the general erosion corrosion problems experienced with swimming pool pumps, improving pumping efficiency and reducing running costs were becoming more important as energy costs continue to escalate. An application of Belzona® 1341 Supermetalglide to the internal surfaces of the pump increased the efficiency by almost 12%.
