Belzona® Refurbishes Eighty Year Old Turbine Runner

Application Situation:

Severely eroded Francis turbine runner. 

 
 

Problem:

Years of use had caused severe corrosion and cavitation erosion on the turbine. Customer had received bids for new replacement but chose Belzona on economic grounds.

Belzona® 1121 (Super XL Metal)

Belzona® 1341 (Supermetalglide)

 

Substrate:

Cast Steel

 
 

Application Method:

Application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflets CEP-3 & CEP-5. Corroded surfaces were rebuilt and smoothed with Belzona® 1121 before coating with Belzona® 1341 for long term protection.

 
 

Belzona Facts:

Belzona method saved the customer in excess of $150,000 and restored turbine to its original efficiency.
