Belzona® Repairs Large Soot Blowing Air Compressor

Application Date:

October 1999


Application Situation:

Repair to soot blowing air compressor operating at 12,500 cfm.



Corrosion in water jacket area had reduced the gasket sealing surface and allowed water into the air stream.



Belzona® 1111 (Super Metal)

Belzona® 9411 (Release Agent)

Application Method:

The application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflet GSS-7. This method included grit blasting the area to be built up. A mold was used to help form the correct fit and a disc sander was used to achieve the proper finish.


Belzona Facts:

Use of Belzona® 1111 (Super Metal) resulted in the equipment being placed back in service at a substantial cost saving as opposed to having the air compressor welded and machined down.
