Belzona® Repairs Subway Handrail

Application Situation:

Handrail of escalator at a subway station

 
 

Problem:

Due to vandalism, a chunk of rubber was missing from the handrail.

Belzona® 2311 (SR-Elastomer)

 

Substrate:

Rubber and nylon fabric

 
 

Application Method:

The application was carried out in accordance with a modified version of Belzona Know-How Leaflet SHM-1.

 
 

Belzona Facts:

The repair was completed with $50.00 of Belzona product. The alternative was hot vulcanizing which would have shut the escalator down for one day and cost approximately $2,000. The repair took only two hours to perform, and after three years, is still in operation today.
