Problem: Leakage at flange joints due to breakdown of the original mastic sealer. There was also a breakdown of the original paint system on the equip-ment.

Application Situation
Flange joints on electrical switch-gear where Sulphur Hexafluoride (SF6) is used as a gaseous insulant.
Application Method
After blasting to remove existing coatings and mastic, Belzona® 1111 was used to seal the flange joint. Belzona® 3921 was then applied to create a base for a conventional paint that was spray applied to the area.
Belzona Facts
A laser leak detection camera on the sealed flanges has revealed no leaks, and an order has been received for all 515 flanges on the site due to the success of the first application.
