| Belzona Extends The Life Of This Trunion End Bearing | | | Industry:Pulp & Paper (PLPR) | | | Application:Mechanical Power Transmission (MPT) | | | Customer Location:Pulp Mill in Alberta, Canada | | | Application Date:1996 | | | Application Situation:Trunion end bearing for a 40-ton lime kiln. | | | Problem:The lubrication system failed on the trunion end bearing on a 4-ton lime kiln, wearing through the entire bronze liner and into the cast iron pillow block. | | | Products:Belzona® 1111 (Super Metal) | | | Substrate:Cast Iron | | | Application Method:The application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflet MPT-7. Side shields, C-clamps and infrared lights were used to speed up the cure time. | | | Belzona Facts:The cost of a new cast iron trunion is approximately $20,000. Replacement of a new trunion was considered, but weeks of procurement time eliminated that possibility because the lime kiln was shut down. The pro-file was restored by using Belzona® 1111 (Super Metal). | | | Photographs Description
