Application Situation
Shaft spline used as the main transmission of power to the mandril mill.
Application Method
The application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflet MPT-5. Belzona® 9411 (Release Agent) was applied to the gear, and Belzona® 1121 (Super XL-Metal) was liberally applied to the spline and gear before mating.
Belzona Facts
These large splines would have had to be custom fabricated, which would exceed the normal shutdown time frame. The Belzona application took place in the steel mill’s machine shop.
