Problem: The corrosion was due to fermentation of sanitary and food waste. The previous corrosion protective system was based on Vinyl ester and had become loose and failed.

Application Situation

Waste water tank on a passenger ferry operating between Sweden and Finland.

Application Method

Application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflet TCC-5. Fillets and edges were coated by hand application before the whole area was coated with two coats of 5811 by airless spray application.

The solvent free Belzona® 5811 gives proven and long lasting corrosion protection for waste water tanks. Inspection in September 2012 revealed coating in excellent condition with minimal touch-up required.
