Problem: The bubbler throat on the absorber had developed a number of holes within the vessel compartment due to substrate erosion/corrosion.

Badly corroded throat area in absorber.

Application Method

Application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflets TCC-1 & TCC-5. A total of 16 handleable sections of pre-formed mild steel plate were cold bonded to the substrate using Belzona® 1121 to completely encapsulate the affected areas. Once the Belzona had cured, the plates were frost blasted and the entire repair area was protected with Belzona® 1391 to prevent further damage.

Belzona Facts

The application was completed within three days providing the client with minimum downtime and disruption to the facility. The Belzona was selected for its excellent erosion-corrosion resistance at elevated temperatures.
