Problem: This end suction pump carrying a combination of medium consistency stock, alkaline medium, and chlorine carry over at 70°C, eroded and corroded the end plate of this pump. The pump was no longer able to move the required volume of liquid per batch.

Alkaline extraction pumps operate at approximately 70°C (158°F) and suffer from a combination of chlorine and caustic attack at 12-15% medium stock consistency.
